France keeps seducing visitors from all over the world! She is in the third world-wide position of income by tourism after the United States and Spain with an amount of 34.5 billion euros. Still the world's favourite destination, France received some 76 million tourists in 2004. This represented an increase of over 1% on 2003 due to France's continued popularity with European visitors. France received approximately 75 million tourists in 2005, 83% of them being European tourists.

The tourists who visited France were from:

  • the United Kingdom: 14,6 million stays / 105,2 million overnight stays.
  • Germany : 13,7 million stays / 102,5 million overnight stays.
  • Netherlands : 12,4 million stays / 78 million overnight stays.
  • The United States: 2,6 million stays / 26,2 million overnight stays.
  • Japan : 642 000 stays / 4 million overnight stays.
